New build and commercial specialist Walker Profiles has signed to Profile 22 as part of the Scottish fabricator’s ambitions for future growth across the sectors.
The Motherwell-based business, works with local authorities, housing associations and house builders, including Persimmon, Kier and Barratt, throughout Scotland.
Part of the James Walker Group, Walker Profiles selected Profile 22 after identifying its sustainability lead as of critical importance in winning business in social and new build sectors going forward.
Jim Gibson, general manager, Walker Profiles said: “We have had many successful and good years with our previous supplier but we felt that we needed greater differentiation, particularly in the commercial sector where specifications are increasingly rigorous and putting increasing emphasis on sustainability.
“Profile 22, to us, appeared very well placed to support us in meeting these specification criteria and in giving us the innovative solutions that we see as important in moving forward in meeting market challenges.”
As an Epwin Group company, Profile 22 was the first window systems company to manufacture a fully recycled window. It also extruded profile used in the Group’s award winning installation of windows manufactured from 98 per cent recycled material in Manchester in 2009 (National Recycling Awards 2009 Best Product category).
This pioneering development has made a significant contribution in PVC-U’s recent ‘A’ and ‘A plus’ Green Guide rating from the Building Research Establishment. The range also features combinations capable of achieving top ‘A’ Window Energy Ratings (WER) and system U-values as low as 0.8.
Colin Joyce, commercial manager, Walker Profiles, said: “The quality and high performance of a window is today expected to be a given, it’s the sustainable nature of the product, additonal back-up service and what happens to manufacturing waste or old product that is really making the difference in the commercial sector.
“You have to be able to demonstrate that you have adopted a responsible approach if you’re going to persuade local authorities and others that plastic is sustainable.”
Walker Profiles will also join the systems company’s Approved Window Contractor scheme, giving commercial specialists access to dedicated lead generation, guidance and specification support.
Andrew Reid, sales development director, Profile 22, said: “Walker Profiles is a well established business that has recognised that we’re in a period of change and which is moving with it. We’re delighted to have them on board and to be able to support them going forward.”
