Attending the green building expo for the fourth year in succession, under the banner of parent company, the Epwin Group, Profile 22 will exhibit, amongst other products, its new 98 per cent recycled window system Reco22.
The system can achieve a centre pane u-value of as low as 0.8W/m2K, delivering significant energy and by implication, CO2 savings. But manufactured solely from recycled ‘end-of-life’ early generation PVC-U window frames, Reco22 uses just six per cent of carbon in manufacture compared to that of a window profile manufactured from virgin material, bringing new sustainability to PVC-U building product technology.The system, which scooped the Best Recycled Product Award at the National Recycling Awards 2009, is also available in a range of colour and dual-colour options including wood grains, white wood grain and greys amongst others. Developed to bring new design flexibility to commercial specification, it offers in particular a strong but lower cost and more thermally efficient aesthetic match to aluminium.
This pioneering development in PVC-U building product sustainability has made a significant contribution in PVC-U’s recent ‘A’ and ‘A plus’ Green Guide rating from the Building Research Establishment.
